SECURITY FOR CONSTRUCTION

Know what happens after the crew leaves.

Create a record of site access, equipment movement and material deliveries. Build the camera layout around a site that changes as work progresses.

RISKS TO PLAN FOR

Understand the risks in your sector.

Use these common scenarios to identify the areas that need attention at your site.

Tool and equipment theft

Portable tools and stored materials can be vulnerable when the site is unattended.

After-hours intrusion

Gaps in fencing and unsecured gates can allow entry to an active work site.

Shared vehicle routes

Delivery trucks, machinery and pedestrians can meet at narrow gates and access roads.

Illustrative scenarios. Cameras can help staff review events; combine coverage with appropriate access controls, safe working practices and on-site procedures.

START WITH THE SPACE

Put the important areas in view.

01

Site gates

Use a fixed outdoor camera for each main entrance. Show the approach and handover area, rather than placing the camera where an opening gate blocks it.

02

Material storage

Cover storage compounds and equipment parking with overlapping views. Recheck coverage whenever containers, scaffolding or temporary fences move.

03

Wide site overview

Use PTZ capability for operator-controlled inspection of a distant area. Keep fixed cameras on important locations because a PTZ only records the direction it is facing.

FROM EVENTS TO UNDERSTANDING

See the moment.
Review the context.

Human and vehicle detection can help identify arrivals in recorded events. Appropriate warning-light and external-speaker features on selected models can form part of an agreed after-hours setup.

Face detection captures a face snapshot; it does not identify who a person is. Choose camera positions and recording settings around the detail you need.

BUILD YOUR SYSTEM

A starting point for your project.

Confirm model suitability, coverage and storage with your installer.

BEFORE INSTALLATION

A better plan starts on site.

Confirm reliable power, a suitable network, secure recorder storage and the changing locations of cabins and materials. Plan periodic coverage reviews as the site develops.

Can a PTZ replace all the fixed cameras?

No. A PTZ gives flexible zoom and direction, but cannot view every direction at once. Retain fixed views for gates, stores and other important areas.

How much recording can I keep?

Retention depends on camera count, bitrate, recording schedule and installed disks. Share your required retention period so storage can be sized for your system.
