The catalog specifies an electropolished 316L stainless-steel housing and high-transmissivity viewing glass, with a sun shroud and heater/window-defroster provisions.
A camera can look clear during the day, yet lose detail when its internal IR illumination switches on at night. Behind a housing window, reflected IR can return to the lens and create glare, haze and ghost images.

Putting an IR camera inside a separate housing can let its own illumination reflect from the glass back into the lens. This can mask vessel fittings, bolts and pipe details. It is an internal-reflection and glare effect, sometimes described as a “prism effect”; it is not caused by glass thickness alone.
The SGC-EX LS uses a Sony IMX291 STARVIS sensor and, in the configuration specified by Stanklin, emits no IR or white light. It uses available ambient light for low-light color imaging, avoiding glare from its own illuminator behind the window.
Low light, not zero light. Color detail requires some visible ambient light. Results depend on light level, exposure, lens, glass condition and subject movement. Absolute darkness requires an appropriate external lighting solution.
